Case Study: How a Miami Med Spa Lowered Ad Spend and Increased New Patient Leads

Case Study: How a Miami Med Spa Lowered Ad Spend and Increased New Patient Leads

Spending More on Ads Doesn’t Always Get You More Patients

When a med spa isn’t getting enough new patients, the obvious reaction is often:
Increase the ad budget.

But more ad spend doesn’t fix an inefficient marketing strategy. In fact, it can simply make an expensive problem even more expensive.

That’s exactly what MedspaBloom discovered when we began working with a multi-location medical spa in Miami, Florida.

The clinic had already worked with multiple marketing agencies. They were spending heavily on advertising, but their campaigns had become generic, repetitive, and fatigued.

They needed more from their marketing.

Instead of asking the clinic to spend even more, our team took the opposite approach:
We reduced their advertising budget and generated more new patient leads.

The result?
Cost per lead dropped from $15 to just $6, while monthly new patient leads increased from 199 to 240.

That’s a 60% reduction in cost per lead and approximately 21% more new patient leads—while saving the clinic more than $1,000 per month in advertising costs.

The Clinic

Our client operates a multi-location medical spa in the competitive Miami, Florida market.

Like many established med spas, they weren’t new to digital advertising.

They had already invested in marketing and worked with multiple agencies. The problem wasn’t a complete lack of marketing activity.

The problem was that the marketing they were paying for was no longer producing enough return. This is an important distinction.

MedspaBloom’s approach is built around diagnosing the entire marketing system rather than automatically assuming a clinic needs more leads or more ad spend. Our Growth Audit looks at the complete path from advertising and offers through landing pages, lead capture, nurture, booking, follow-up, and other potential leaks.

The Problem: Higher Spending, Diminishing Results

When we evaluated the account, several problems stood out.

The clinic had gone through multiple agencies, advertising costs were too high, and its campaigns had become generic and fatigued.

Most importantly, the clinic simply wasn’t generating enough new patient opportunities for what it was spending.

That created a dangerous cycle:

Spend more → costs increase → results disappoint → spend even more trying to compensate.

That’s exactly the kind of problem MedspaBloom believes clinics need to avoid. Our philosophy is that ads are only one piece of a larger growth system. When something isn’t working, the answer shouldn’t automatically be to pour more money into it.

“One of the first things we noticed was that this clinic didn’t necessarily need a bigger advertising budget. They needed us to make the budget they already had work harder.”
— Julie Vincent, MedspaBloom Account Manager

What We Changed

Rather than continuing to push the same type of campaigns with a larger budget, the MedspaBloom team rebuilt the advertising strategy around efficiency, creative diversity, and stronger targeting.

1. We Developed Fresh, More Diverse Campaigns

Ad fatigue can quietly destroy campaign performance.

When audiences repeatedly see similar ads, similar graphics, and similar messaging, engagement can decline and acquisition costs can rise.

We developed new campaigns with greater creative and messaging diversity to give the clinic more opportunities to connect with prospective patients.

2. We Incorporated Organic-Style Content

Not every ad needs to look like an ad.

We incorporated more organic-style content throughout the campaigns to create a more natural mix of promotional and engaging creative.

The goal was to make the clinic’s advertising feel less repetitive while giving potential patients more reasons to stop, pay attention, and engage.

3. We Refined the Targeting

Generating a large number of inexpensive leads means very little if they aren’t the right people.

The objective wasn’t simply to chase the lowest possible CPL. We refined the targeting to improve the clinic’s ability to attract prospective patients and appointment opportunities.

MedspaBloom’s broader philosophy is simple:

Leads aren’t the ultimate win. Booked appointments are.

4. We Reduced the Ad Budget

This was perhaps the most counterintuitive change.
We intentionally spent less.

After reviewing the account, we determined the clinic could operate more efficiently without its previous level of ad spend.

The reduction saved the clinic more than $1,000 per month in advertising costs.

“It’s easy to tell a client to spend more money. The harder and more valuable job is figuring out how to get more from what they’re already spending. In this case, reducing the budget was part of improving the strategy.”
— Julie Vincent, MedspaBloom Account Manager

The Results: Less Ad Spend. More Leads.

The difference was substantial.

MetricBeforeAfterImprovement
Cost Per Lead$15$660% lower
New Patient Leads19924021% increase
Monthly Ad Savings$1,000+Lower spend

The clinic went from paying approximately $15 for each lead to only $6.

At the same time, new patient lead volume increased from 199 to 240.

In other words:
The clinic spent less money and generated more opportunities for new patients.

Why It Worked

The lesson from this case study isn’t simply that med spas should cut their advertising budgets.

It’s that more money isn’t automatically the solution to poor marketing performance.

Sometimes the better question is:
Why isn’t the money we’re already spending working harder?

This is why MedspaBloom focuses on systems instead of random marketing activities. Ads alone can’t compensate indefinitely for weak creative, poor targeting, bad offers, ineffective follow-up, or leaks elsewhere in the patient acquisition process.

Effective marketing is fundamentally about shifting perspectives and beliefs. Strong marketing makes a clear argument for why the audience should see the situation differently rather than watering down the message to avoid disagreement.

In this case, the conventional belief was:

“We need better results, so we probably need to spend more.”

Our strategy challenged that assumption:
“Before you spend more, let’s make sure you’re spending intelligently.”

What Other Med Spa Owners Can Learn From This

If your marketing isn’t producing enough new patients, don’t automatically assume you need a bigger advertising budget.

You may need to determine where the inefficiency actually is first.

Your ads could be fatigued. Your targeting could need refinement. Your offer may not be strong enough. Your landing page could be leaking conversions. Leads may not be receiving adequate follow-up. Or your entire lead-to-appointment path may need attention.

That’s why MedspaBloom recommends diagnosing the marketing foundation before simply increasing spending. Our Growth Audit is designed to examine areas including the website, social presence, Google Business Profile, ads, funnels, nurture, follow-up, booking experience, SEO, and other pieces of the clinic’s marketing ecosystem.

Because sometimes the fastest way to improve your marketing isn’t to add something.
It’s to find what’s wasting the money you’re already spending.
